A CNC spindleless veneer peeling machine is an automated woodworking machine that processes wood logs into thin, continuous sheets of veneer. Unlike traditional veneer lathes that hold a log with a central spindle, these machines use textured rollers to grip and rotate the log, making them especially efficient for peeling smaller-diameter wood cores leftover from other processes. The Computer Numerical Control (CNC) system provides high precision for cutting uniform veneer.

How it works

Feeding: The log is loaded into the machine and fed toward the peeling knife by extrusion rollers.

Gripping and rotation: Two main textured friction rollers grab the log and rotate it against a long peeling knife. The CNC system controls the speed of these rollers using servo motors for precise movement.

Peeling: The peeling knife shaves a continuous sheet of veneer from the rotating log, creating a smooth, high-quality surface.

Automatic adjustment: A servo motor can automatically adjust the knife gap and peeling speed to ensure uniform thickness, especially for logs with varying wood densities.

Log core processing: The machine can process logs down to a very small diameter, leaving behind a core that can be used for other purposes, reducing waste.

Spindleless design: Removes the traditional central spindle, allowing the machine to maximize the usable material from smaller diameter wood logs and cores.
CNC control: A computerized system with servo motors ensures high precision and uniform veneer thickness. It controls the rotation speed, knife position, and feed rate.
High efficiency: With features like a hydraulic knife installation system and automatic knife adjustments, the machine can achieve high peeling speeds and is suitable for high-volume production lines.
Versatility: Can handle different types of wood, from softwoods like pine to hardwoods such as eucalyptus. The rollers can have different patterns to adapt to various wood species.
Durability: Components like the guide rails and peeling rollers are often hardened and chrome-plated for increased wear resistance and a longer service life.
